On that note, I have been scouring the internet for basic flower apliques and have found nothing that I like . I have come up with these two cute basic flowers. The first flower is a rounded flower with two leaves. The second flower is a slightly larger pointed flower with three leaves. The flowers and the leaves are both worked separately and later sewn together. The items you will need for this project are:

Cotton yarn in yellow, blue and white. You can also use any worsted weight yarn.
G hook
Needle for sewing
**picot: ch2, slip stitch in first ch. **

Small flower

Using yellow Ch2
R1: 5 sc in first ch. Join in first sc. Fasten off weave ends. (5sc)
R2: Using blue, join with slip stitch at any sc, * ch1, hdc,DC,hdc,ch1, slip stitch in same sc, slip stitch in next sc*, repeat around in each sc. Join in joining ch. Fasten off leaving long tail for weaving.

R2: *ch5, slip stitch in first ch, sc in next, 2dc in next, hdc in next, sc in next, slip stitch in next, repeat * to* in each sc around. Join in join ch. Fasten off leaving long tail for sewing.

Large flower

Using yellow, repeat R1 of small flower
R2: *ch1, hdc,DC, picot,DC,hdc,ch1,slip stitch in same sc, slip stitch to next sc*. Repeat from * to * in each sc around. Join in joining ch. Fasten off leaving long tail for sewing.

Large leaves

Using green ch2, 5sc in first ch from hook, join in first sc.
R2: *ch7, slip stitch in first ch from hook, sc in next, hdc in next, 2 DC in next, hdc in next , sc in next, slip stitch in next 2 sc* repeat twice more for a total of 3 leaves. Fasten off leaving long tail for sewing.

This pattern was particularly designed for a crochet swap group I am part of. Our swap was Kitchen themed and my swap partner for the month has hers decorated in Sunflowers. I couldn't find a Sunflower applique that I enjoyed so I decided to design one. I enjoyed it so much that I thought I would share with y'all !

Stitches used
Sc= single crochet
Dc= double crochet
picot= ch3,sc in2nd ch from hook

Materials
Worsted weight yarn in dark brown and mustard/gold
H hook

with Brown

R1: ch4, 5 Dc in 3rd chain from hook, join in top of ch4 (6)
R2: ch3, dc in same chain as join, 2dc in each around, fasten off and weave ends(12)

With Mustard/gold

Join with a sc at any dc

R1: ch5, *skip next stitch, sc in next, ch5* , repeat from * to *. Join at first sc. (6 ch5 spaces,6 sc)
R2: slip stitch into first Ch5 space, *ch3, 4 dc, picot, 5 dc, slip stitch into next ch space* repeat from *to* around, join and fasten off and weave ends.
And there you have it, a Pretty Little Sunflower <3

Is Fall here yet??? Nope, three more weeks till school starts and I am so ready for summer to be over with. This heat AND humidity is killer on my skin and hair. I find myself longing for the leaves to change colors and that oh so good smell of a fireplace at work.
On that note, I want to share with you my cute little pumpkin pattern. It is the perfect decor that you can use all throughout the Fall season. I love displaying them on my mantle and I am sure you will too <3

There! I said it! Pheeew!
I blame my crochet exchange group and Peaches n' Cream for making the most beautiful 100% cotton yarn.
They are so handy to have around the house plus you can just toss them in the washer! There are sooo many patterns that I am sure you can spend days just looking at them, so I gathered my favorite patterns to share with you all today!
First is the Nubbie Scrubbies. This pattern is great for practicing your treble crochet stitch. Here is mine <3.

Then there's the Crunchy Stitch dishcloth. Perfect for cleaning those stubborn counter tops (at least they're stubborn in my house!)

   Then there is the Sedge Stitch dishcloth. I found this one to be the easist and quickest to work up :-)

Next is the Sunburst dishcloth. I loved this cloth but didnt have the colors so made my own colorful version !

Everything I made came out small at the top and large at the bottom or crooked lol. Then I found Amigurumi and fell in love <3.
It is sooo easy and if you mess up, most of the time, only you will know ;-). They are perfect for beginners because the help you practice with repetitive stitches. I want to share some free doll patterns I have had the pleasure of finding and making.

If you have been blessed with a little girl then you know ALL about the LaLaLoopsy craze. Here is a super cute Lalaloopsy inspired pattern by a awesome Craftster member. Here is how mine came out <3

Any Coraline fans in your house. Coraline was a cute claymation movie about a little girl who moves to a new home that has a small door with an alternate world. Here is a great pattern for a Coraline inspired . Here is my finished doll <3

Unfortunately(lol), we live in the desert and it has been soo hot outside that the boys don't even want to go swimming for longer than 30 mins. So I have been searching for things to do inside together and found this awesome idea on pinterest for recycled self watering containers and thought it was a perfect project for me and the boys to do together.

You will need:

Clean 2 liter soda container
Scissors/knife
Potting soil
Seeds
About 10 inches of yarn
A thick nail
Hammer

Step 1: Cut the soda bottle in half

Step 2: take the lid off and using the nail and hammer, punch a hole in the lid. ( If you do not have a nail you can use a screw and screwdriver)

Step 3: thread the yarn through the hole in the lid and tie a knot in the middle so that it can not slip through and leaving a tail on both ends.

Step 4: Replace the lid on the bottle and fill with potting soil and pour just enough water in the bottom half of the bottle to cover the string of yarn and place the top half inside the bottom half.

Step 5: Plant your seeds and water. Place in a window sill and watch them grow!

This will be the last time you water directly from the top. The string of yarn will draw up just the right amount of water your plant will need to thrive. You will need to replenish the water in the bottom once every week or two.
My boys loved this project and we had fun making a garden. Plus, now I will have pretty flowers too.
I hope you enjoy this project and go off and have fun with your little ones too! Till next time, Enjoy! <3

It is really easy and some thing fun to do with the entire family. Plus the kids are learning while having fun!

Lava In A Jar

Matierials

1  jelly jar
1 cup of water
Food coloring (red preferably)
1/4 cup of oil
Sugar and a spoon

Directions

Step 1: pour 1 cup of water into the jar

Step 2: squeeze 5 drops of red food coloring into water

Step 3: pour oil into the water ( stop here and observe and discuss what is happening )

Step 4: sprinkle a spoonful of sugar
and see what happens!

Do you see the bubbles?? Looks kinda like a lava lamp right? :) Do you know why this happens? Well, oil is lighter than water so it floats. When you add the sugar, a little bit of oil gets trapped. As the sugar dissolves the oil is released and travels back to the top making a "lava" effect.
For an extra bonus add a few drops of a different colored food coloring afterwards and see what happens. The food coloring, which is heavier than water and sinks, gets coated in oil and sinks slower than normal making beautiful "fireworks" in the water.
My son really enjoyed this project and it boosted his curiousity in science and I do believe I may have a little Bill Nye the science guy on my hands. I plan on doing more science experiments with him throughout the summer and share them with you all! Till next time!

BAM! Here's my work!
I ended up stumbling the CUTEST puppy pattern EVER. Seriously when this pup debut at my shop orders were pouring in like crazy. And you can see why!

By Hook, By Hand ( www.byhookbyhand.blogspot.com ) is THE most awesomest craft page I have every found. Not only does it have the greatest crochet pdf patterns for free, she also offers amazing tutorials on everything from cloth dolls to how to make a doll house out of cardboard. Believe me when I say you will be lost for days on her site. Here is a side view of the Spaniel pup.

A client asked me to make her a bag to carry her childrens toys when they go to Grandmas. I came up with this. I like this bag alot because nothing slips through and its big enough to actually use in your daily routine. I hope y'all enjoy it!

Materials
2 skeins of Red heart with Love yarn in any color
J hook
Stitches used
Ch= chain
hdc= half double crochet
Dc=double crochet
Using J hook and working with two skins
Ch 100
Hdc in 3rd chain from hook , hdc across
Row 1-25 ch 3( counts as first hdc)
turn, hdc across
At end of row 25 do not fasten off.

Right now you should have a big rectangle shape. Lay with wrong side facing up. Count back 60 spaces and join with slip stitch, slip stitch down the side fastening off at end. Do the same for the opposite side.
If you'd like to make your bag with a little bit of texture; hdc in only the top 2 loops of each hdc. It will leave a nice ridge throughout every row giving your bag a slightly different look.
Strap
Working with two strands
Ch 90
Hdc in 3rd ch from hook and across, ch3 turn
Row 2: hdc across, ch 3, turn
Row 3: hdc across, fasten off leaving long tail for sewing
Now you can decorate your bag with any applique. I used a flower pattern from Tangled Happy. I am currently making one in red with a monkey applique for a friend who had twin boys.
The first picture is of my gray messenger bag for my customer. She really loved it! The hdc is tight enough so that nothing falls out or slips through. And by using two strands the bag is durable enough to last a long time.

When I decided I wanted to share this pattern I asked a couple nice gals to test my pattern for me.The second picture is by Terri over at Cozy Baby Crochet.

Awesome right!!?!! I love the embroidery work she used to decorate the cover. This shows how you can really make this bag your own. Feel free to comment if you have any questions. I would love to see your results. So far I've finished a Stormtrooper, R2D2, and Bobo Fet. *drum roll*
Here is the latest in his collection,

Han Solo!

I really like how he turned out, especially his little gun holster. I do think I need to embroider his hair a bit better, but other than that I think he came out great and my son will love him.
I am excited to make the next doll since I recently bought saftey eyes. It will be my first time using them so I can't wait. Till next time!

It really surprised me because ALL boys like dinosaurs right!!??!! I really was lucky I came across this little guy. He was really easy to make although with all his spikes and horns he had 15 parts total. Waaay more than the usual 5 or 6. My friend really liked him :-) if you'd like to make one too and follow the link below !
